Children left alone in car during cold spell

January 7, 2014 By WRN Contributor

A 23-year-old Beloit woman is facing charges after being accused of leaving her two small children unattended in a car during this bitter cold spell. Beloit police say they arrested Codi Davis on two-misdemeanor counts of Child Neglect after an officer was flagged down in a retail store parking lot Monday night about 7:30. Officers say the children were aged five-years and 18-months, and the temperature was 12-below with a wind chill of 34-below. The investigation reveals they’d been left alone for about ten minutes. Child Protective Services authorized the children’s release to a family member.
