Nearly 10,000 electric customers throughout Wisconsin were without power this Friday morning, in the wake of the latest round of severe storms. About 6800 homes and businesses are waiting to get their power back after three waves of thunderstorms Thursday morning in northern and central Wisconsin.
Madison Gas and Electric reports there are more than 7,100 customers affected by the outages. According to Alliant Energy, more than 5,259 customers are out of power in Dane County. In Columbia County, nearly 1,435 people are without power. There are more than 1,058 customers affected in Dodge County.
The power outages couldn’t come at a worse time, as southern Wisconsin faces a third straight day of extreme heat. Forecasters say the heat index is expected to go back about 100 Friday afternoon in some locations.
