Volleyball: Badgers capture title in Hawaii

Motion WThe fourth-ranked Wisconsin volleyball team opened the 2016 season 3-0 after winning the Rainbow Wahine Invitational on Sunday afternoon in Honolulu.

The Badgers swept Kansas State 25-18, 25-15, 25-20 in the championship match.

Freshman Molly Haggerty led all players with 14 kills while hitting .609.  Junior Lauryn Gillis added 10 kills.

Senior Lauren Carlini recorded her second straight double-double with 41 assists and 10 digs.  Junior Kelli Bates led all players with 12 digs.

Wisconsin returns to Madison to open its home season next weekend, hosting the HotelRED Invitational on Friday-Sunday.
