Brewers lose again without Braun in the line-up

July 6, 2011 By Bill Scott

All-Star OF Ryan Bruan missed his third straight game Tuesday night as the Brewers fell at home to Arizona 7-3.  Braun has been out since injuring a calf muscle Saturday in Minnesota.  He is still listed as day-to-day.

On the field, the Brewers got behind early as they lost back-to-back home games for the first time this season.  Starting pitcher Randy Wolf gave up 4-runs in the 1st and 3-runs in the 3rd putting Milwaukee in a hole they couldn’t dig out of.  Manager Ron Roenicke isn’t pointing the finger at Wolf…

Frustration may be setting in though, as Roenicke spent some time addressing the team after the game.  The Brewers have lost 7 of their last 8 and have seen a 3-game lead in the division turn into a two-game deficit behind first place St. Louis.  Pittsbugh has also leapfrogged the Brewers in the standings as the Pirates are a game and a half behind the Cardinals.

Prince Fielder clubbed his 22nd Home Run of the season while driving in a pair of runs.  His National League leading RBI total now sits at 71.  Corey Hart added a solo shot, his 10th of the season.

Milwaukee tries to avoid the sweep this afternoon at Miller Park.   Yovani Gallardo takes on Josh Collmenter for a 1:10 first pitch.
