Running back Eddie Lacy joined his teammates for the start of the Green Bay Packers offseason program on Monday. According to some of his teammates, he did so quite a bit lighter than the last time they saw him.
After Mike McCarthy called out Lacy for his weight at the end of last season, Lacy took to P90X, training with the program’s founder Tony Horton in Wyoming and California this offseason.
Lacy saw his numbers and his opportunities drop in his third NFL season because of his weight and lack of production. In his first two seasons, Lacy averaged 1,500 total yards and 12 touchdowns. Last season, Lacy had 946 total yards and five touchdowns.
The Packers listed Lacy’s playing weight at 234 pounds last season, but he appeared to be playing at a weight that was significantly higher than that. According to reports, Lacy is already down 15 to 18 pounds from that playing weight last season.
Lacy is entering a contract year, so there’ll be no shortage of motivation as he gets ready for the upcoming NFL season.
