Rodgers pulls out of Pro Bowl game

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has pulled out of the NFL’s Pro Bowl game, citing an undisclosed injury on Wednesday.  Rodgers will be replaced by Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr.

Rodgers was on the Packers’ injury report with a right shoulder injury back in November but didn’t miss any playing time.

This was the fifth time that Rodgers was voted to the Pro Bowl, but he’s played in just two of the games, in 2009 and 2011.  He also pulled out of last year’s Pro Bowl after finishing the season with a torn calf muscle.

The Packers still have three players scheduled to play in the game: guard Josh Sitton, fullback John Kuhn and linebacker Clay Matthews.

Mike McCarthy and his coaching staff were also selected to coach one of the two teams in the January 31st All-Star game in Hawaii.
