Wisconsin Badger sophomore linebacker Chris Borland (pictured), senior left tackle Gabe Carimi, senior tight end Lance Kendricks and senior offensive lineman John Moffit are among the 75 players on the 2010 Rotary Lombardi Award Watch List, which was announced yesterday.
Wisconsin is just one of three teams in the country with four players on the Watch List, joining TCU and North Carolina.
The speeches inside Immanuel United Methodist Church in Kenosha were hot, but a march to the Kenosha County Jail and to Congressman Paul Ryan’s office was peaceful during a protest of the country’s immigration policies.
An overturned cattle truck a Highway 151 bypass in Fond du Lac blocked off traffic for several hours Thursday. A southbound semi-truck overturned in the median. The driver, 55-year-old Patrick DeGeneffe of Chilton, told State Troopers, a gray vehicle, possibly an SUV, driving eastbound pulled out in front of him and he swerved to the left to avoid overturning the truck.
The state Legislature adjourned for the year without action on a bill that would have enabled the creation of Regional Transit Authorities for Southeastern Wisconsin and the Fox Cities. Now, some transportation groups are warning that failure to act could have negative consequences for the state.
Tom Rave with the Coalition for Advancing Transit says transit options are needed to help attract employers to the state, who will often set up along public transportation systems. He says a good system is a key to an area being successful economically. [Read more…]

Does Harley-Davidson’s future hinge on leaving Wisconsin? Harley-Davidson operations communications manager Pat Sweeney says management on Thursday shared with workers company-wide the conclusions of a competitiveness study which has revealed significant gaps. “While our preference is to find ways to address those gaps and keep our production operations here in Wisconsin, we also have to explore alternative U.S. sites should we be unable to achieve a workable solution to close those gaps here,” says Sweeny. Senator Russ Feingold says a U.S. Supreme Court ruling in January rolled back a large number of laws controlling campaign spending by large groups and corporations, which need to be restored. The decision in the Citizens United case effectively removed limits on political expenditures from corporations and other special interest groups. [Read more…]

Madison’s Mayor is weighing on a proposed goose kill. “We need to explore all the options, but safety is paramount,” says Mayor Dave Cieslewicz about plans to kill up to 100 Canada Geese at Madison’s Warner Park.
