After the Milwaukee Bucks won an NBA-best 14 games (14-4) in the month of March, the NBA has rewarded them with a pair of monthly honors.

The NBA named head coach Jason Kidd the Eastern Conference Coach of the Month and forward Giannis Antetokounmpo the Eastern Conference Player of the Month.

Kidd is the sixth head coach in franchise history to win the Coach of the Month award and the first since Scott Skiles in February of 2010.

The Player of the Month award is the first of Antetokounmpo’s career and the first for a Bucks player since Michael Redd won the award in January of 2004.  Antetokounmpo joins Redd, Terry Cummings and Sidney Moncrief as the only four bucks players to be named Eastern Conference Player of the Month. Skiles named head coach in Orlando

May 30, 2015 By Bill Scott

Scott Skiles

Scott Skiles

Former Milwaukee Bucks coach Scott Skiles was named the new head coach of the Orlando Magic on Friday.

Skiles hasn’t held a head coaching job in the NBA since leaving the Bucks in 2013.  He led the Bucks into the playoffs in 2009-10 when they finished the regular season with a 46-36 record but lost in the opening round to Atlanta.

Skiles replaces James Borrego, who took over on an interim basis after 30-games in Orlando last season.  Skiles indicated that he is hoping to retain Borrego on his staff.

Skiles played five seasons with the Magic.  He set a single-game assists record (30) with Orlando during the 1990-91 season.  That record still stands today.

This is the fourth NBA head coaching job for Skiles after previously spending time with the Bucks, the Phoenix Suns and the Chicago Bulls.

The Orlando Sentinel reported that Skiles will get a three-year deal with a team option for a fourth season.
