The Green Bay Packers made it official today, announcing the release of TE Brandon Bostick and WR Kevin Dorsey.

Bostick joined the Packers as a non-drafted free agent on May 30, 2012, out of Newberry College.  He spent the entire 2012 season on the team’s practice squad before appearing in 24 games the past two seasons (2013-14) and totaling nine catches for 123 yards (13.7 avg.) and two touchdowns.

Dorsey entered the league as a seventh-round selection (No. 224 overall) of the Packers in the 2013 NFL Draft from the University of Maryland.  He missed his entire rookie campaign after being placed on injured reserve prior to the 2013 season.  Dorsey appeared in three games in 2014, posting two special teams tackles and one catch for 4 yards before being placed on injured reserve on November 8, 2014.

Packers release Taylor, sign Dorsey off practice squad

With wide receiver Jarrett Boykin battling a groin injury, the Green Bay Packers were looking for some depth at wide receiver.  Monday, they released veteran tight end Ryan Taylor and signed WR Kevin Dorsey off of the teams practice squad.

Taylor had just eight catches in four seasons, being used primarily as a core special teams player.  But Taylor’s special teams had been diminished greatly this season, getting 55 total special teams snaps in the first five games.

Dorsey was a 7th round pick by the Packers in 2013.  He battled for the 5th receivers job that was eventually won by 2014 7th round pick Jeff Janis, while Dorsey was signed to the practice squad out of training camp.  He had five receptions for 52 yards in the preseason after spending his rookie year on injured reserve with a toe injury.

The Packers also added cornerback Tay Glover-Wright to the practice squad.  He spent the last two seasons at Utah State, recording 69 tackles (40 solo), five tackles for loss, a sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery with 10 pass break-ups.

The Packers lost Jumal Rolle to the Houston Texans last week.

The Packers also gave a tryout to former Wisconsin Badger tight end Jacob Pederson on Monday.

Packers announce roster moves

August 27, 2013 By Bill Scott

The Green Bay Packers made their roster moves, getting down to the 75 player limit by 3pm this afternoon.

The Packers released kicker Zach Ramirez after he lost his brief training camp battle with Mason Crosby.

Both kickers hit missed just once on Sunday, but Crosby bounced back with a perfect 16 for 16 effort today, while Ramirez his just 6 of 16 from a variety of distances.

The Packers also put T Bryan Bulaga, WR Kevin Dorsey, RB DuJuan Harris and LB Jarvis Reed on injured reserve.

Safety Sean Richardson, T Derek Sherrod, T JC Tretter and DE Jerel Worthy were all placed on reserve/physically unable to perform.

Injuries hit young Packers receivers

July 28, 2013 By Bill Scott

Just two practices into Green Bay Packers Training Camp, three different receivers have gone down with injuries, including 7th round draft picks

Donald Driver

Donald Driver

Charles Johnson and Kevin Dorsey.

Undrafted rookie Sederrick Cunningham hurt his wrist on Friday and underwent surgery that same day.  He is out indefinitely.

Johnson suffered what’s been described as a minor knee injury and he could return to the field soon.  Dorsey appeared to have suffered a hamstring injury.  His status is unknown at this time.

Current Injury List

S Sean Richardson (neck), RB DuJuan Harris (knee), CB Casey Hayward (hamstring), LB Jamari Lattimore (illness), OL JC Tretter (ankle), OT Derek Sherrod (leg), DL Jerel Worthy (knee), CB Davon House (illness), S Chaz Powell (foot), DL Mike Neal (abdominal), WR Sederrik Cunningham (wrist), WR Charles Johnson (knee – dropped out), WR Kevin Dorsey (lower body – dropped out).

Donald Driver

Veteran wide receiver James Jones said he spent some time with recently retired Donald Driver down in Houston and reported that Driver is apparently having second thoughts about his retirement.  Driver has yet to file his retirement papers with the league.

It’s unlikely the Packers would want to bring Driver back after he hardly figured into their plans last year, catching just 8 passes for 77 yards.

Packers draft means bad news for veteran players (AUDIO)

April 29, 2013 By Bill Scott

Every new NFL Draft class means the end of the line for a number of NFL veteran

Eddie Lacy

players.

In Green Bay, adding two new running backs means the current stable of backs could be out of work soon.

Selecting Eddie Lacy in the 2nd round and Johnathan Franklin in the 4th round is a big statement that the Packers aren’t happy with their ground game.  James Starks and Alex Green could be battling in training camp for roster spot.  Coach Mike McCarthy had talked before the draft as if DuJuan Harris would be battling for a starters spot.  It would appear that job could be Lacy’s to lose.
