Bucks hold off Timberwolves for 31st win

The Milwaukee Bucks held off a late push by Minnesota to pull out a 106-104 win over the Timberwolves on Wednesday night at Fiserv Forum.

Minnesota entered the contest having lost 8 of their last 10 games and playing without regulars Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins, but the Timberwolves kept it close throughout.

The Bucks struggled offensively in the first half and hit just 3 of 14 from three-point range, holding a 1-point lead at the half.

The Bucks still found themselves leading by one point with seven minutes to play before Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton gave the Bucks a little bit of a cushion.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, who hit 3 of his 7 three-point attempts, put the Bucks up 106-100 with a triple. [Read more…]

Bucks blow past Timberwolves

The Milwaukee Bucks opened a four-game road trip with a convincing 134-106 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves at Target Center in Minneapolis on Monday night.

Giannis Antetokounmpo had 34 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Bucks, posting a double-double in all seven games this season.

Khris Middleton added 26 points and Eric Bledsoe had 22 as the Bucks (5-2) won their third straight game.

Andrew Wiggins scored 25 points to pace the Timberwolves (2-3).  They played without Karl-Anthony Towns who sat out while serving a two-game suspension for a fight with Philadelphia’s Joel Embiid last week.

The game was delayed almost an hour at the start because of a crooked rim.  The baskets needed to be swapped out and the game, which was set to start at 7 p.m., didn’t tip off until 7:59 p.m.

Bucks survive at home, secure 45th win

The Minnesota Timberwolves played without star Karl-Anthony Towns (concussion protocol) but still made life difficult for the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday night.  The Bucks turned up the heat defensively in the fourth quarter to pull out a 140-128 victory at Fiserv Forum.

The Bucks trailed by two points heading into the fourth quarter, but the Bucks tightened the defense and went on a 18-2 run to secure the win, moving them to 45-14 on the season.  The 45 victories surpasses their win total for all of last season.

Khris Middleton led all scorers with 28 points, 20 of which came in the second half.  Giannis Antetokounmpo added 27 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists.

The Bucks also got 19 points from Brook Lopez, 17 from Nikoa Mirotic and 16 each from Malcolm Brogdon and Eric Bledsoe.  Ersan Ilyasova is the seventh Bucks player to finish in double figures with 13 points.

Derrick Rose led the Timberwolves with 23 points.

The Bucks return to action Monday night in Chicago against the Bulls.

Bucks improve to 2-0 in exhibition play

The Milwaukee Bucks improved to 2-0 in exhibition play, knocking off the Minnesota Timberwolves 125-107 at the Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa.

Giannis scored 21 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the Bucks.  Christian Wood had 14, Khris Middleton 13 and Malcolm Brogdon, Donte DiVincenzo and Tony Snell added 12 each.

The Bucks hit 13 of 36 three-point attempts, but they also scored 50 points in the paint.  They forced 20 turnovers that turned into 24 points.

Karl-Anthony Towns had 33 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Timberwolves.  23 of his 33 points came in the first half on 9 of 12 shooting.

The Bucks play their third preseason game on Tuesday night at Oklahoma City.

Bucks rally to knock off Timberwolves

After nearly three-quarters of sloppy basketball, the Milwaukee Bucks awoke and rallied to beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 102-96 on Thursday night at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

The Bucks trailed by 20-points midway through the third quarter, then started to turn up the defensive pressure to pull out the win.  The Bucks closed the game on a 38-22 run and held the Timberwolves to 4-of-19 shooting in the fourth quarter.

The Bucks got 26 points from point guard Eric Bledsoe and 22 points and 10 rebounds from Giannis Antetokounmpo to lead the way.  A Bledsoe three-pointer with 2:25 left to play, gave the Bucks their first lead.

The Bucks ended a two-game losing streak after suffering losses to Charlotte last Saturday and Chicago last Tuesday.

The Bucks (18-15) hit the road tonight to face the Oklahoma City Thunder (20-15).  The Thunder has won 11 of its last 14 games, including six straight.  Defending MVP Russell Westbrook is starting to heat up.  He’s averaging almost a triple-double, 24.0 points, 10.0 assists and 9.3 rebounds a game.

The Thunder beat the Bucks in their only other meeting this season, 110-91 back on Halloween in Milwaukee.

Bucks end home court slide (Audio)

The Milwaukee Bucks ended their four-game home court losing streak on Friday night, knocking off the Minnesota Timberwolves 98-84 at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

The Bucks (20-18) jumped out to a comfortable lead when they hit 14 of thir 17 second quarter shots  and outscored the Timberwolves 34-16 in the quarter.  The Bucks led 53-38 at the half.

Kenyon Martin, who signed a 10-day contract earlier in the day, was on the court to start the fourth quarter for the Bucks.  He finished with six points, two rebounds and one blocked shot in 8 minutes.

Brandon Knight had 14 points to lead the Bucks.  Rookie Adnrew Wiggins toped the Timberswolves (5-30) with 20 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

The Bucks complete a stretch of five games in seven nights as they face the Bulls in Chicago tonight.  Then it’s off to London to face the New York Knicks on Thursday as a part of the NBA Global Games.
