Bucks snap five-game skid

Milwaukee Bucks logo 10The Milwaukee Bucks snapped a five-game losing streak with a 105-94 home win over the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night.

The game was tied with about ten minutes left when Khris Middleton got hot, scoring nine of his team-high 26 points in the final 7 1/2 minutes when Milwaukee pulled away.  Jabari Parker added 21 points for the Bucks as well.

The Bucks also stepped things up defensively, forcing 24 Phoenix turnovers.  It is the fourth straight game that the Suns have committed 20 turnovers or more.

P-J Tucker had 20 points, ten rebounds and seven assists to lead the Suns.  Former Bucks guard Brandon Knight had 17 points in his first game in Milwaukee since the Bucks traded him more than a year ago.

Bucks guard Greivis Vasquez returned after being out 56 games with an injured ankle in which he had surgery.  He finished with three rebounds and three assists in 12 minutes.

The Bucks host Orlando on Friday night.  They have seven games left in their season.

Brandon Knight dealt to the Phoenix Suns

The Milwaukee Bucks traded guard Brandon Knight in a 3-team deal just before the NBA’s trade deadline this afternoon.

Knight goes to the Phoenix Suns while the Bucks get 6’6 point guard Michael Carter-Williams from Philadelphia and rookie guard Tyler Ennis and center Miles Plumlee from the Phoenix Suns.

Carter-Williams was the NBA rookie of the year last season after being drafted No. 11 overall y the 76ers.  [Read more…]

Bucks get 30th win at All-Star break

The Milwaukee Bucks enter the all-star break after winning their 30th game of the season, 111-103 over the Sacramento Kings at the BMO Harris Bradley Center on Wednesday night.

The Bucks (30-23) won their sixth straight home game and doubled their victory total of 15 from a season ago.  They became the first team in league history to accomplish that feat before the break.

O.J. Mayo led the Bucks with 21 points.  Brandon Knight had 20, Khris Middleton 15 points and  10 rebounds, Giannis Antetokounmpo 13 points and seven rebounds and center John Henson added 12 points, five blocks and four rebounds.

DeMarcus Cousins had 28 points, 19 rebounds and five assists for the Kings.  Sacramento’s Tyrone Corbin wraps up his stint as interim coach.  He’ll be replaced after the break by former Bucks head coach George Karl.

The Bucks reached 30 wins by the all-star break for the first time since the 1990-91 season.  Last season they were 9-43 at the break.

The Bucks have 29 more games to play following the all-star break.

NBA picks Korver over Knight for all-star game

Hours after Dwyane Wade pulled out of the NBA All-Star game and lobbied for Milwaukee Bucks point guard Brandon Knight, league commissioner Adam Silver selected Atlanta’s Kyle Korver to take Wade’s place on the Eastern Conference team.

Knight was hoping to become the Bucks’ first representative in the All-Star game in 11 years.  The last Bucks player to play in the game was Michael Redd in 2004.

Korver is the fourth Atlanta Hawks player to be selected for the Feb. 15th game at Madison Square Garden.  He is hitting 51.6% from the field, 52.8% from three-point range and 92% from the free-throw line. [Read more…]

Wade is out of all-star game, throws support towards Knight

Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade has pulled out of the NBA All-Star game because of a hamstring injury that he suffered against the Milwaukee Bucks on January 27th.

Wade hasn’t played in the last six games and isn’t scheduled to go against Cleveland on Wednesday.  After last night’s Miami game, Wade threw his support to Bucks guard Brandon Knight as his replacement.

Knight and Atlanta guard Kyle Korver are the likely top candidates to replace Wade.  NBA Commissioner Adam Silver will decide Wade’s replacement.

Knight is averaging a team-leading 17.7 points and 5.4 assists in 51 games.

Bucks rebound to beat Lakers in OT

Giannis Antetokounmpo scored a career-high 25 points and Brandon Knight had 24 as the Milwaukee Bucks held off the Los Angeles Lakers 113-105 in overtime for their fifth straight win on Wednesday night at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

O.J. Mayo forced overtime by hitting a three-pointer with 0.5 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

Knight, who didn’t play Monday in Toronto because of a quadriceps injury, scored 22 of his 24 points in the second half, including 12 in the overtime.

Carlos Boozer had 28 points for the Lakers, who lost for the 11th time in the last 12 games.

The Bucks trailed 66-57 before closing the third quarter on a 17-2 run.

The Bucks moved a season high 5-games over .500.  They’re in Houston to face the Rockets on Friday night.

Bucks end 17-game slide in Orlando

The Milwaukee Bucks ended a long road losing streak in Orlando, beating the Magic 115-100 on Thursday night.

The Bucks put seven players in double figures and won in Orlando for the first time since December of 2004.  The Bucks (24-22) finished their three-game road trip with a 2-1 record.

The Bucks played without two injures starters, Zaza Pachulia (strained right calf) and power forward Ersan Ilyasova (sore right groin).

Jerryd Bayless scored a team-high 19 points on 6-of-9 shooting.  Khris Middleton and Jared Dudley added 17 points and Brandon Knight 16. [Read more…]

Bucks beat the Heat!

Milwaukee Bucks logo 2Jerryd Bayless scored 11 of his 15 points in the fourth quarter last night, helping the Milwaukee Bucks knock off the Miami Heat 109-102 in Miami.

The Bucks (23-22) moved three games ahead of Miami (20-25) in the Eastern Conference standings and improved to a perfect 3-0 against Miami this season.

The Bucks bench once again dominated, outscoring Miami’s reserves 54-13.

Brandon Knight and Khris Middleton led seven Bucks in double figures with 17 points each.   Chris Bosh had 26 for Miami, but was held to five points on 2-of-5 shooting in the fourth quarter.

The Bucks shot 54.9% from the field (39-71) and hit 9 of their 16 three-point attempts (56%).

The Bucks close out their 3-game road trip at Orlando on Thursday night.

Bucks suffer another home loss at the Bradley Center

Milwaukee Bucks logo 2The Milwaukee Bucks missed some late chances to pull out a win and fell to the Utah Jazz 101-99 on Thursday night at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

The Bucks missed their last five chances, including a wide open three pointer by Jared Dudley and a fadeaway jumper from Brandon Knight.

It’s the second straight home loss for the Bucks since returning from London as their record falls to 8-10 at the Bradley Center.  They also fell to 21-21 overall on the season.

The Bucks weren’t their normal selves on defense, giving up several chances in the paint in the second half.  Gordon Hayward had 24 points, six assists and six rebounds to lead Utah.  The Jazz also got 23 points and 16 rebounds from Enes Kanter.

The Bucks are back in action Saturday night at home against Detroit.

Bucks rally against Toronto falls short

Milwaukee Bucks logo 2Brandon Knight missed a potential game-tying three-pointer with 7.9 seconds left to play as the Milwaukee Bucks fell to the Toronto Raptors
92-89 at the BMO Harris Bradley Center on Monday night.

The Bucks are now 0-2 against Toronto and have dropped 6-straight against the Raptors overall.

The Bucks were down nine at the half, 53-44 and eventually drew even at 71-71 early in the fourth quarter.  They took the lead, 76-75 on a O.J. Mayo three-pointer at the 6:31 mark and 78-77 with 5:39 to play.  That’s when Toronto went on a 7-0 run and the Bucks would only be able to get within 1-point the rest of the way.

Knight finished with a team-high 20 points, while Ilyasova, playing in his second game back from a concussion, added 14.

Kyle Lowry had 18 points to lead six Toronto Raptors in double figures.  The Raptors grabbed 20 offensive rebounds and scored 21 second chance points.
