Giannis facing suspension after headbutting Washington’s Wagner (AUDIO)

Brooks Lopez scored 24 points to lead the Milwaukee Bucks to a 126-113 win over the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night in the NBA bubble near Orlando.  But the real story isn’t the win, it’s the ejection of Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo for headbutting the Wizards Moritz Wagner in the second quarter.

Antetokounmpo was called for an offensive foul on a play involving Wagner.  Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer called a timeout to challenge the foul call.  During that break, Giannis went after Wagner, lowered his head and headbutting Wagner in the face.

The replay review confirmed both the offensive foul and a flagrant-2 foul on Antetokounmpo, ejecting him from the game.  Giannis finished with 12 points and nine rebounds in 10 minutes.

Now the Bucks wait for the league to review the incident and dole out their punishment.  Certainly, Antetokounmpo will miss some time.  Likely the final seeding game against Memphis on Thursday and possibly a playoff game or two.

Sterling Brown added 23 points and Frank Mason had 19 for the Bucks.

For the fourth time this season, the Milwaukee Bucks earned a victory without their star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo.  Giannis sat out Tuesday night’s match-up with Washington due to a sore shoulder, but the Bucks still pulled out a 151-131 win over the Wizards at Fiserv Forum.

Khris Middleton stepped up and poured in 51 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the Bucks (41-6) to their ninth straight victory.  The Bucks scored a franchise record 88 points in the first half.

Eric Bledsoe added 34 points and 10 assists for Milwaukee, which improved to 22-2 on the home court this season.

Bradley Beal poured in 47 points to lead the Wizards.  Thomas Bryant added 18 points and 10 rebounds, but the Wizards dropped to 15-31 on the season.

The Bucks will shoot for their 10th straight win on Friday night when they host the Denver Nuggets at Fiserv Forum.

Bucks are the first to 40 wins in the NBA

February 7, 2019 By Bill Scott

The Milwaukee Bucks put up 50 points in the first quarter and a franchise record 85 points in the first half, on the way to a 148-129 win over the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night at Fiserv Forum.

With injuries and a trade earlier in the day, the Wizards were playing shorthanded, having only nine players available.

Fans at Fiserv Forum were chanting, “We want 50! We want 50!”  Bucks guard Malcolm Brogdon gave them what they wanted, hitting a three-pointer to make it 50-35.  The Bucks hit 20 of 27 from the field in the quarter, including 7 of 9 from three-point range.

Washington would close the gap to nine points in the third quarter and then got to within 120-113 in the fourth before the Bucks went on a 13-0 run to pull away for good.

Giannis Antetokounmpo poured in 43 points to lead all scorers.  He went 17 for 21 from the field, including 3 of 3 from three-point range.  Eric Bledsoe added 22 points and 11 assists for the Bucks, who won their fifth straight and their 40th overall this season.

The Bucks are in Dallas to face the Mavericks on Friday night.

Bucks fall at Washington

March 14, 2013 By Bill Scott

The Milwaukee Bucks can’t win without defense.  They showed that again last night with a 106-93 setback against the Washington Wizards.

The Bucks gave up 60 points in the first half and despite a second half resurgence, couldn’t climb all the way back in the loss.

John Wall scored 23 points and added 10 assists, 6 rebounds and 4 steals in the Wizards victory.

Monta Ellis had 26 points to lead the Bucks in defeat.

The Bucks are back home to host Miami at the Bradley Center on Friday night.  The Heat has won 20-straight games after beating Philadelphia 98-94 last night.  Miami is just one of four teams to win 20 or more consecutive games in a season.  The 70-71 Bucks also accomplished the feat.

November 10, 2012 By admin

Milwaukee Bucks guard Monta Ellis led the team with 22 points Friday night, as the Bucks beat the Washington Wizards 101-91.

The Bucks (3-1) rallied well from a poor start which saw them outscored 12-0. They then went on a 14-2 run to get themselves back into the game, and created a 56-47 halftime lead.

Milwaukee had five players scoring double digits including Brandon Jennings and Ersan Ilyasova.

The Wizards (0-4) were led by guard Bradley Beal scoring 22 points and forward Trevor Ariza scoring 15 points with eight rebounds.

Milwaukee forward Mike Dunleavy was one rebound away from a double-double game, and also led the team in rebounds.

The Bucks look to take down the Boston Celtics (2-3) for the second time this season at home on Saturday night.
