Wily Peralta was reinstated earlier Tuesday after a two-month stay on the disabled list and pitched six solid innings to lead the Milwaukee Brewers to a 5-2 win over the San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park.

Peralta (2-5) allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, to go along with two walks and three strike outs.  It’s the first win for Peralta since May 6.

Gerardo Parra did the bulk of the work offensively, finishing a home run shy of the cycle.  He also scored three of the Brewers five runs.  Adam Lind also returned to the lineup and drove in a pair of runs, helping the Brewers snap a three-game losing streak.

The loss goes to Matt Cain who fell to 2-2.

Francisco Rodriguez recorded his 23rd save in as many opportunities after blanking the Giants in the 9th inning.

The series is tied at a game apiece with the rubber match this afternoon in San Francisco.

The Milwaukee Brewers ended a 2-game scoreless streak, but fell short against the San Francisco Giants 4-2 at AT&T Park on Monday night.

Rookie right-hander Chris Heston pitched seven strong innings and Brandon Crawford clubbed a two-run home run in the fourth off of Kyle Lohse to lead the Giants.

Milwaukee fell to 1-4 on their current 7-game west coast road trip, while the Giants have won 12 of their last 13 games to move within a half game of the Dodgers for first place atop the National League West.

Heston is 4-0 with a 2.03 ERA in his previous six starts.  He threw the first of three no-hitters in the major leagues this season, back on June 9 against the New York Mets. [Read more…]

The Milwaukee Brewers eight-game winning streak came to an end, falling 5-3 to the Atlanta Braves on Monday night at Miller Park.

Atlanta starter Matt Wisler held the Brewers to three runs on seven hits in 5 2/3 innings for his 8th win of the season.

The Braves got to Brewers starter Kyle Lohse early, scoring four times in the first two innings.  Four of the Braves first five batters reached base against Brewers starter Kyle Lohse (5-10).  Kelly Johnson clubbed a two run homer, the 20th home run allowed by Lohse this season.  He allowed 22 all of last season.

Gerardo Parra led off the bottom of the first with his eighth home run of the season, cutting the deficit to 2-1 before the Braves scored twice more in the second to go up 4-1.

The Brewers entered the game averaging 14-hits a game on their recent road trip, but it didn’t carry over to their series opener at home last night.

Rookie Tyler Cravy pitches game two of the series for the Brewers tonight.  Cravy takes the spot in the rotation vacated by Matt Garza, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list with shoulder tendonitis.

The Milwaukee Brewers won all seven games on their road trip and ran their win streak to 8-straight games with a 6-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ballpark.

The Brewers scored 53 runs and averaged just over 7.5 a game during the road trip.  The last time the Brewers went through a 7-game road trip [Read more…]

The Milwaukee Brewers continued their torrid hitting pace in Saturday’s 7-3 win over the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ballpark.

The win extended the Brewers win streak to seven straight games, the last six coming on the road.  The 7-game streak is the longest for the Brewers since they won nine straight in April of last season.

The Brewers broke open a 1-1 tie in the fifth when they scored six times, sending 12 hitters to the plate.

Cincinnati pitchers hit four Brewer hitters with pitches, including Carlos Gomez, who had to leave the game.  X-rays were negative on his left wrist. [Read more…]

Gerardo Parra tied the score with a pinch-hit rbi single in the 7th, then Ryan Braun and Adam Lind clubbed home runs in the 8th to send the Milwaukee Brewers to a 5-3 win over the Minnesota Twins at Miller Park on Sunday.

The extra runs proved to be necessary after Francisco Rodriguez served up Torii Hunter’s 2-run homer in the 9th in a non-save situation.

Braun’s blast to left was his 15th of the season.  Lind clubbed his 11th home run of the season.

Mike Fiers pitched one of his best games of the season, allowing a single run on four hits in seven innings.  Fiers walked three and struck out four.  Fiers worked seven innings for just the second time this season.

Will Smith worked a scoreless 8th to improve to 4-0 this season.

The Brewers took 2 of 3 from the Twins, winning their second straight series.  They’ll hit the road and open a 3-game series in Philadelphia against the Phillies tonight.  Jimmy Nelson (4-8, 4.34  ERA) works for the Brewers.  Sean O’Sullivan (1-5, 5.34 ERA) will pitch for the Phillies.

Down 5-1, the Milwaukee Brewers rebounded to knock off the Washington Nationals 6-5 at Miller Park on Thursday night.

Scooter Gennett, who has just been recalled from Class AAA Colorado Springs, singled to left to drive home Shane Peterson from third with the go-ahead run.

Will Smith (2-0) pitched a scoreless 8th to earn the win.  Smith had just returned from a six-game suspension from Major League Baseball for being caught with a foreign substance on his arm.

Francisco Rodriguez tossed a scoreless ninth for his 13th save in as many opportunities.

Gerardo Parra tied the game with a solo home run in the seventh.  The Brewers have won five out of their last seven games.

Mike Fiers (2-6, 4.06 ERA) pitches game two for the Brewers tonight, facing Washington’s Jordan Zimmerman (5-3, 3.18 ERA).

Poor 1st inning does in the Brewers

Jimmy Nelson surrendered five runs in the first inning on Wednesday and the St. Louis Cardinals went on to knock off the Milwaukee Brewers 7-4 at Busch Stadium.

The first six hitters reached base for the Cardinals in the bottom of the first and the Brewers didn’t get out of the inning until Nelson struck out St. Louis pitcher John Lackey.

Manager Craig Counsell said the five runs didn’t all fall on Nelson’s right arm.  A couple of defensive plays would have ended the threat much sooner, but that has been the story of the Brewers season. [Read more…]

Ryan Braun clubbed two home runs and made a diving catch in right field to help Kyle Lohse and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the New York Mets 7-0 at Citi Field in their series opener on Friday night.

The home runs for Braun are numbers 7 and 8 on the season.  Gerardo Parra also homered and clubbed an rbi double for the Brewers, who got to Mets starter Bartolo Colon (6-2) to win on the road for the first time under new manager Craig Counsell.

Lohse allowed just two hits in eight innings of work, after entering the game with a 7.03 ERA.  Lohse improved to 3-4 with the victory.  Michael Blazek completed the three-hitter by pitching the 9th inning for the Brewers.

The Brewers have now won 13 of their last 16 games at Citi Field to improve to 14-6 overall, good for the best winning percentage (.700) of any National League team.

Carlos Gomez

The Milwaukee Brewers ran their win streak to three-games last night, knocking off the Chicago White Sox 10-7 at Miller Park.

Elian Herrera clubbed a game-winning two-run home run in the 8th inning to break a 7-7 tie.  Khris Davis followed with a solo shot to cap the scoring.

Herrera also doubled and scored, getting another start at third base for the ailing Aramis Ramirez.  The home run for Herrera is his second in as many games.

The Brewers jumped out to a 6-0 lead after four innings and 7-2 after five.  But the Brewers bullpen couldn’t hold on, allowing five runs over the seventh and eighth innings.  The White Sox were bidding to take the lead, but Carlos Gomez ended the threat with an over-the-shoulder catch in center field to rob Melky Cabrera and keep the game tied.
