December 3, 2012 By Bill Scott

The Green Bay Packers ran their divisional winning streak to 10-games with a 23-14 victory over the Minnesota Vikings Sunday at Lambeau Field.

Their hasn’t been too many, if any,  games in 2012 where the running game led the charge but this one was the case.  James Starks and Alex Green combined for 124-yards on 27-carries with Starks adding the teams first rushing TD since Week 5.  After the game, Head Coach Mike McCarthy was pleased with his teams rushing performance…

Jennings inching closer to a return

November 22, 2012 By Bill Scott

Green Bay Packers WR Greg Jennings has not seen the field since week 4 against New Orleans.  Wednesday, he took a step in the right direction towards his return.

Jennings has been battling an ab/groin injury for most of the season.  He elected to have surgery a few weeks back as rest was not helping the healing process.  Head Coach Mike McCarthy gave this update after Wednesday’s practice:

November 13, 2012 By admin

Greg Jennings (pictured right) looks to return as soon as he can to the field.

Green Bay Packer‘s wide receiver Greg Jennings is back from the East coast and back rehabbing his abdominal injury sustained in week one against the San Francisco 49ers.

On November 1, the wide receiver Tweeted a picture of him post-surgery, letting all of Packer Nation know things went well.

Jennings mentioned that he feels “pain-free” and that it has been the first time he has been “pain-free” since the initial injury in week one.  He also added that it would be at least three weeks before he can start running and cutting at full speed.

Now he has gone through the surgery and discussed with his doctors and Packers training staff, there is no definitive time-table for his return and he is “taking it day by day.”

Jarrett Boykin practices

Albert Einstein once said, “In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.”  With Greg Jennings out, Jordy Nelson questionable, and Donald Driver probable, Green Bay Packers wideout Jarrett Boykin looks to have found his opportunity and feels prepared for it.

Boykin, an undrafted rookie from Virginia Tech, led the Packers in receptions this preseason and was signed to the roster, but has not seen action yet.

Boykin was originally signed by Jacksonville, but waived three days later.

When asked if this game meant a little more because of the history, Boykin said it adds a little more, but it is not his main focus.

Jennings opts for surgery

October 26, 2012 By Bill Scott

After a month of dealing with a nagging groin injury, Green Bay Packers wide

Greg Jennings

receiver Greg Jennings sought a second opinion.

During a consultation with specialist Dr. William Meyers (Philadelphia) on Wednesday, the Packers’ 7th year receiver was diagosed with a rectus abdominal tear and is opting for surgery.

AUDIO: Greg Jennings on going with surgery vs. injection treatment :14

Jennings initially suffered the injury near the end of the season opener against San Francisco at Lambeau Field.  Jennings has twice tried comebacks since, to no avail.

Nelson

The Packers may have to play Sunday’s game against Jacksonville without wide receiver Jordy Nelson.  He suffered a hamstring pull in practice on Wednesday and hasn’t practiced since.  Mike McCarthy said for now, they’ll try to test Nelson Saturday or Sunday.

If Nelson can’t play on Sunday, Randall Cobb and James Jones would go into the game as the top two receivers.  It would mean increased playing time for veteran Donald Driver, who is playing in his 200th career game, as well as rookie Jarrett Boykin.

B.J. Raji

Nose tackle B.J. Raji practiced in pads on Thursday and coach Mike McCarthy thought he looked good.  Raji missed the last two games with an ankle injury.

Jennings chances for Sunday appear slim

October 25, 2012 By Bill Scott

Earlier in the week, Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy wanted to test

Greg Jennings (right)

Greg Jennings as the practice week moved on, most likely Friday, to see if he’s ready to play Sunday against Jacksonville.

Wednesday, it was revealed that Jennings is concerned about how long it’s taking for his groin injury to heal, so he’s seeking a second medical opinion this week.

Jennings has missed four of the last six games, including the past three, because of the injury he first sustained in the season opener against the 49ers.

There’s no timetable for Jennings return.

Greg Jennings hopes to return against the Texans

October 12, 2012 By Bill Scott

Jennings (85) looks to return Sunday and help Rodgers (12) and the Packer’s offense

While Green Bay Packers‘ wide receiver Greg Jennings still struggles with a groin injury from week one, he says he is making progress and there’s a chance for him to play this Sunday.

AUDIO: Jennings says there is a chance he may play :12

Jennings is playing things cautiously when it comes to the groin injury.  He is trying not to rush back as quickly as he did in week three to try to prevent another setback.

AUDIO: Jennings is taking things slow :14

Even if Jennings does not play Sunday night against the Houston Texans, he believes it will not affect how the Texans’ defense will prepare for the Packers’ passing attack.

AUDIO: Jennings says opponent’s pass defense doesn’t change :13

If Jennings is able to play, quarterback Aaron Rodgers will certainly be happy to have him back as an offensive weapon.  This season, Rodgers has averaged a higher passer rating with Jennings (98.23) than without him (94.15).

Greg Jennings looks to return and provide an offensive spark as the Packers take on the undefeated Houston Texans Sunday night.

Jennings will likely sit out this week

October 4, 2012 By Bill Scott

There’s a good chance that veteran wide receiver Greg Jennings will be a

Greg Jennings

spectator when the Green Bay Packers face the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Jennings left last Sunday’s 28-27 win over the Saints after re-aggravating his groin injury.  The injury will likely sideline Jennings for Sunday’s game against the Colts.
